San Antonio Church

Finally, after more than three years, I took a decent photograph of San Antonio Church a half block up the street. I am enormously fond of that little plaza and the church. I do not attend, but I can listen to an outdoor mass when one is conducted in front of the church while sitting on my own patio. Sat in the shade up there in the plaza this afternoon and dozed off a bit before buying some hot dogs and bananas and heading home.

There is nothing artsy about this photo, but it does convey pretty well in a straight ahead way what the place looks like in good light, which there was in abundance today. Click right on the picture to make it big. I am proud of it.

R and R

After that late night Friday--or more accurately, that early morning Saturday--Rick and I spent a lot of time sitting on our asses during the day Saturday.

Palm Sunday

Plaza San Antonio is our plaza in our neighborhood, colonia San Antonio. It is a half a block up from the gate into my apartment complex. It did not dawn on either Rick or me when we arose this morning that this is Palm Sunday. We had intended to attend mass anyway but were thrown off by the switch to Daylight Savings Time here last night. So that was all out the window right away.

Night Time is the Right Time

Some miscellaneous night snapshots from the weekend in my neighborhood plaza.

I cannot recommend the fruit juice loaded with chili powder, even with the wedge of pineapple on the side.

La Virgin de Guadalupe Birthday

Today is the birthday of La Virgin de Guadalupe. It would be hard to overstate the enormity of the adoration for this figure here. Many, probably the majority, fervently believe that México owes its very nationhood to her. More than seven million people gathered at the Basilica de Guadalupe in Mexico City for the big nationally televised ceremony that commenced shortly before midnight and proceeded on into the wee hours. Many of them had walked over a 100 miles to get there.

San Miguel RV Park and Tennis Courts

This entry really is going to resemble “My Wonderful Mexican Vacation.” There may be some who are interested in the new digs, however.

I would like to announce immediately that San Miguel RV Park and Tennis Courts [hereinafter SMRVPTC] is a hit with me. I have a wifi signal right here at the table inside the camper that is the strongest signal I have had anywhere since leaving home. But that is the least of the many steps up.
